Celebrate “Cinco de Mug-o”
Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 9:00AM Indian River Potters’ Guild Director Valerie Karas is pleased to announce the studio’s second annual juried art show on Friday, May 6th, creatively named “Cinco de Mug-o.” The Guild invites local ceramic artists to participate in their dynamic homage to the drinking vessel. Currently home to eight member artists, Indian River Potters’ Guild is an anchor in the Eau Gallie Arts District, where many community and family friendly events are held.
The Guild has called for all interested artists to create pieces celebrating the great history of the drinking vessel. The opening reception for the show, with its display of various mugs, cups and goblets will be May 6, 5:30 to 8:00pm, at Indian River Potters’ Guild, 1542 Guava Avenue, Eau Gallie Arts District.
Director/Owner Valerie Karas is characteristically full of enthusiasm for the upcoming activities of the Indian River Potters’ Guild, which celebrates its two-year anniversary in April. The studio is buzzing with the building, decorating and firing of the artists’ inspired work. On display will be functional, sculptural and whimsical ceramic mugs.
“Our studio continues to grow, offering ceramic artists and fledgling potters a creative and extremely well-equipped space to pursue their art. We are alway looking for new members, and are also offering classes to individuals wishing to explore this medium. We look forward to including artists from other studios and experiences. We hope to build upon the cooperative arts community developing in Brevard. We can’t wait to share the collection of talented work with our guests.” Karas states.
“Cinco de Mug-o” should provide art enthusiasts with the chance to see a diverse and exciting collection of pottery from artists all around Brevard County. The show will be available for viewing through May 27.
