Valerie Karas Artist Bio

Valerie Karas began her artistic exploration into clay 13 years ago.

While learning creative needlework from both her grandmothers, she developed an interest in form, texture and color.  These interests drive her artistic voice in clay.

Each piece of Valerie Karas pottery is a reflection of the many treasures life holds for us, both great and small.  She hopes her pieces are integrated into the rituals of daily life.  Her artwork has been exhibited at the Brevard Museum of Arts and Science, is held in private collections, and donated to charitable causes.

Valerie has participated in classes in the medium by nationally recognized artists such as Jinsong Kim, Debra Fritts, Laura Jean McLaughlin, Linda Arbuckle, Steven Forbes and Posey Bacopoulos.  She has attended classes at the Penland School of Craft in North Carolina as well.
